About Me

MyGen Profile GeneratorHello! If you want to know anything about me the best place to look is tynkabelle.livejournal.com .The main things I enjoy in life....DDR. I really want to be good. So far I am just mediocre really. Good enough to impress most people but not anyone that actually plays it often. Still it is an ambition! Playing with a pretty good guy in an arcade in Tokyo felt like a "things you always want to do in life" ticked off my list.I love food. Not that I over-eat.. I just love food, especially eating out at nice restaurants or having it cooked for me. I'm also teaching myself to cook much more now. I can even do sushi :)I love dancing - not any particular special dancing, but regular going out to a nightclub and just dancing away and having fun and not caring what anyone thinks. Even dancing in the comfort of my own room with the lights off and flashy visualizations on the screen so I can pretend I'm in a club.I'm trying to learn Japanese (still - I've been half learing for years) and I intend to take the JLPT in December. Other than that I like reading, games and most american tv shows that make it big in the UK - currently watching Prison Break, and The West Wing from the beginning. I also signed up for an OU Physics degree but I've put it on hold til I get somewhere with my Japanese.I've been in long term relationships pretty much constantly since I was 17 but now I'm single again I've decided I want to stay this way for a while... at least at the moment I think I do. It's quite nice discovering myself and being able to decide who I want to be. At the moment I've decided I want to play a lot of badminton, get much better at DDR, read more books, play as many computer games as I like and spend whole days in bed catching up on TV :) Basically doing what I want. It's fun!

My Interests

My main interests are DDR, Stepmania, films, fantasy books (especially long series), most of the usual american TV series, learning Japanese, playing on the 360/wii though I prefer the arcade games to the expensive ones, Livejournal

I'd like to meet:

Most of my friends live in London and although I am hoping to move there soon I haven't found anywhere yet. So I'm open to meeting new people from around here, or London (especially if you have a room going on the kentish side), or anywhere really. Also if anyone wants to play Stepmania online sometime let me know.

Music:

My music tastes change depending on my mood and what's in my mp3 collection, which hasn't been updated much in recent years.Lately it's been a lot of Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen. But usually when I can be bothered to make a playlist its something along the lines of the following, depending on my mood: Foo Fighters, Green Day, Blink 182, Offspring, Finch, McFly, Busted, SClub7, Sheryl Crow, Jewel, Jamie Cullum, Norah Jones, Ayumi Hamasaki, Hinoi Team, Pendulum, random anime themes or a load of swing or vocal/progressive trance or happy hardcore My Last.FM page

Movies:

Favourite movies are Cruel Intentions, Moulin Rouge (and many other musicals), Shawshank Redemption, The Usual Suspects, Kill Bill vol 1 (didn't like 2 so much) and any clever/twisty/quirky films - like Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Lucky Number Slevin, The Butterfly Effect. If it jumps around in time or shows multiple characters' versions of events or has a clever narration style I'm bound to love it. I also like all the classic girly films (Pretty Woman, Dirty Dancing, When Harry Met Sally) as well as foreign cinema. I'm working my way through the classics and trying out slightly less mainstream titles rather than just the Crouching Tigers and Amelies of the world :) Any recommendations are welcome.

Television:

Heroes, Prison Break, The West Wing, Greys Anatomy, Frasier, The O.C., Alias, Lost, Scrubs, Family Guy, American Dad, Veronica Mars, Charmed, Eastenders, Big Brother, The 4400, Spooks, Hustle, Desperate Housewives, 24, One Tree Hill.

Books:

Recently read: Khaled Hosseini - The Kite Runner , F. Scott Fitzgerald - The Great Gatsby , Robert Jordan - New SpringCurrently reading: Leo Tolstoy - Anna Karenina , John Humphries - Lost for Words , Japanese for Busy People III mainly read fantasy series though I love books in general. Bookshops make me smile and people bending book covers and pages make me very angry. I keep buying books considered classics but have only recently got round to reading them because I keep getting involved in reading fantasy series (just finished all 11 books of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series plus the prequel. Desperately awaiting no. 12). I loved David Eddings - The Belgariad&Mallorean. One day I want a big library like in Beauty & The Beast, with a ladder that can wheel around the walls :) I also have a growing collection of odd books on punctuation and good grammar so that when I'm being pedantic I'm 100% certain I'm right. I also recently became the proud owner of a Sony Ebook Reader which I am filling up with all sorts of stuff :) If anyone has found a way for non-US citizens to get proper sony books on a reader please let me know :)
