Ghetto Fabulous is a South London based Sound that was started in 1997 by DJ Infinity and J. Gotti, both originally from Ladbroke Grove, West London. Together they started out playing reggae, dancehall and R&B at house parties, christenings and under 18 events.
Ghetto Fabulous Slowly began to build hype around their name and a small following from locals both young and old. Ghetto Fabulous was going from strength to strength and around 1999 DJ Dezi D joined the group adding a garage element to the sound. Their unique playing style allowed them to reach a wide and diverse audience and in turn they gained recognition from the more ‘senior’ sounds in the scene including one particular sound named Jam World.
Jam World Sound saw the potential of a still young Ghetto Fabulous Sound and featured them on their own promotions and dances and got them their own radio set on London’s Lightning 90.8 fm.
It was at Lightning fm where Ghetto Fabulous (as a group) got their first tastes of radio life and in particular drive time radio. Being a young, versatile sound they quickly adapted to radio life and DJs Infinity and Dezi D learning and perfecting their presentation skills.
Ghetto Fabulous have also appeared .. 97.6 fm where they held a weekly Saturday night Dancehall Show and Whoa 90.4 fm where they held a drive time and late night anything goes show (sponsored by Red Square… Ah Murda!!)
As of March 2007 Ghetto Fabulous joined Trafficjamradio.com. UK’s newest online radio station. Playing the best in black music 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can hear Ghetto Fabulous on Mon night/Tues Morn 12-2am GMT:UK Time with their Garage mix show. Playing old and new skool garage, grime, and a touch of funky and soulful house. Also Every Saturday evening you can hear the best in reggae dancehall from 8-10pm GMT.
Also hear DJ Infinity making special guest appearances on Natty B’s Reggae chart show, Sunday evenings from 10 – 12 pm GMT/UK Time on Choice 96.9, 107.1 fm & Sky, NTL digital or listen live on line at www.choicefm.com.
Ghetto Fabulous have performed at venues up and down the country including Ministry of Sound, Stratford Rex, Astoria, Equinox, Trap, NYT, Rococo’s, Blue orchard, Loop and Bar HQ.
Along side artist such as Black eyed Peas, Obie Trice, Keith Murray, Spragga Benz, Assassin, Red Square, Stone Love, Taz, Nathan plus many more.
