Know Your Soul, as the name suggests, is a much calmer, more introspective affair. Primarily an acoustic album, with FitzGerald playing either piano or acoustic guitar on most of the tracks, supported by a few of Londons finest session players: Wayne Urquhart on cello (Ninja Tunes Pest and Cinematic Orchestra, Keziah Jones) and the Canadian Bret Vanderburg on double bass. The songwriting and vocal style is definitely soulful, rich in harmony, and the backing vocals (all executed by FitzGerald himself) are almost gospel in their size and vibe.Written in seclusion in a remote part of the Canary Islands and recorded in East London, it is a blend of sunshine and cynicism.Know Your Soul is currently available at Rough Trade record stores in London and online at www.roughtrade.com......................
