About Me

Virtuous began the journey into vocal music at age thirteen on the West Side of Chicago, in, of all places the home studio of famed house music performer/producer Adonis. It was at that time that she discovered her voice and her ability to write as well. Shortly thereafter she began to attend Kenwood Academy on Chicago's Southside, during the height of the vocal house movement. Always shy, but willing to try, Kenwood Academy's Lena McLin was instrumental in helping her develop her gift.
After graduating high school Virtuous went on to college at Alabama State University and it was there than she stepped from the shadows and became a performer. Earning a paycheck as a featured vocalist for a band comprised of a few "Ice Cold" fraternity brothers, she began writing lyrics to original compositions while performing covers with the band. After leaving Alabama State University, Virtuous returned to the city of Chicago and began performing on the "festival circuit", which consisted of neighborhood and city wide festivals, as well as outdoor entertainment for some of Chicago's bars and small venues.
Later she would transpose some of her most intimate and heartfelt poetry into music lyrics and spoken word over dynamic and intoxicating muscial compilations. Her style becoming ever more complex and always adding to the repretoire to keep the sound fresh, she studies her craft continually trying to enhance her skills and earn her place in the music industry.
So without further adieu...we invite you to relax and experience Virtuous Reality.

Influences: First and foremost inspired by God Genre Specific...Gospel, Jazz, R&B, Soul, Neo Soul, House, Spoken Word Musically...start with the drum and anybody who developed a different sound from there Vocally...too many to name.
Sounds Like: A warm summer night... Soft melodies cool breezes intermingled with a little fiyah! Midwest swing with gospel undertones... Full voice and full spirit.
