NEW ALBUM "HEADRUSH" OUT SOON...

About Me

The Dave Manington Quartet began life nearly 5 years ago, as a working band which emerged from many vibrant playing sessions and rehearsals between them and other members of the Loop Collective. It soon gathered momentum and with the formation of the Loop collective in 2005 helping to establish gigs and creative impetus for this and many other projects it became a firm line-up. This fresh ensemble of young musicians plays original music written by Dave over the course of the past five years. It features three of the most in demand and forward-thinking young musicians in London, Mark Hanslip on tenor saxophone, Ivo Neame ..boards and Tim Giles on drums/percussion. Their debut album “Headrush” was recorded in three sessions over the course of autumn ..07 and will be the sixth release from LoopRecords on the 3rd of November 2008.“..an emphasis on collective improvisation and less of a focus on individual soloists than you might find in traditional jazz. It also grooves like hell, with Manington's acoustic bass and Giles' sprightly drums laying down some thick, beefy yet, at the same time somehow mercurial riffs – full of stops, starts, wrong turns and dead ends, yet rocking in the grip of a savage momentum..” JAZZWISE nov '06
