About Me
We met in 1994 at the "Mortal Kombat 2" arcade game (in awe of the fatalities that the people were doing). We talked a few minutes about our video game and then music interests and next thing you know we were back at "Gecko's" place jamming on some real ghetto shit.
Jamie told Rob that he could play drums, but didn't have a "real" drum kit, so we got ahold of some 5 gallon buckets, some thick ass tree branches and some old cracked cymbals that we used to complete his drum set. Of course, we upgraded our stuff throughout the years. We officialy disbanded in 2001, but just like other bands, there may or may not be a reunion. This site is to honor the classic Mazzey and all of our past incarnations (there were quite a few.)
JAMIE'S BAND HISTORY: The Beginning (1994-2004)
1994 - In September, Jamie (drums, lead vox) and Robert "Gecko" Frank (guitar, vox) formed MAZZEY, a garage band playing experimental alternative metal. We had a few friends join in on sharing vocal parts (Josh Bower and Mike Holmes) and successfully made 8 demo tapes for our enjoyment. This lasted until the summer of 1995 when MAZZEY decided to split up.
1995 - In November, Jamie asks Matt Dunkleberger (guitar) to jam together along with Josh. MAZZEY was reformed and created one demo tape. After that, MAZZEY was silent for a few months in the winter.
1996 - March sprung in and MAZZEY was reformed with original lineup (Jamie, Rob, Josh). We made 3 demo tapes together and then in May, MAZZEY calls it quits once again.
1996 - Jamie (drums, keyboard) gets ahold of Matt (guitar) in December to form a new band under the name of HOLLOW. Just an instrumental project, we created only one demo tape which was later finished in February 1997.
1997 - MAZZEY (Jamie, Rob) once again reforms in March to record one demo entitled "Pussywhipped." Then Jamie asks if Rob would like to make a demo along with Matt (guitar), thus WICKED SANDBOX (yes, the name was derived from the Last Crack - Burning Time song) was formed in late March/early April. WICKED SANDBOX lasted until the end of April and made 3 quick demos together. After that MAZZEY (Jamie, Rob) decides to make another demo tape in May called "Dead Forever." This was our first real live performance, jamming outside with friends showing up for support. This was originally going to be the end of MAZZEY, hence the name of the demo... and yes, MAZZEY splits up in June.
1998 - Nothing happened this year.
1999 - In March, Jamie (drums) gets ahold of Matt (guitar) to form a new band playing straight up groove metal called EMPTY. Recorded one demo in his basement which was all instrumental. After this, we decided to call the band quits.
1999 - MAZZEY (Jamie - drums, lead vox and Rob - guitar, vox) is reformed in May and created 3 awesome demos recorded at Colin Brown's garage upstairs which are full-length CD's and really sounded excellent for that time period. This lasted until November, when we decided to split up once again.
2000 - In February, Jamie (drums, lead vox) gets ahold of Matt (guitar, vox) again and form a brand new band under the name of JINX. We recorded one demo in his basement between February and March. To me, this was definitely the bestest sounding demo that we have done together for this time period. After that, JINX was done for.
2000 - In this rare occasion, Jamie (drums, lead vox) and Rob (guitar, vox) decide to try and attempt to make a new MAZZEY demo in April in Colin Brown's upstairs garage. This was pretty much just a jam session. We recorded it anyways, but we weren't happy with the results of the recording. Jamie had some new material after that and MAZZEY was planning on making a new demo later on and calling it "Vampire," but it never happened... MAZZEY was finally laid to rest in early 2001.
2001 - MAZZEY R.I.P. ~ MAZZEY's band history lasted almost 7 years.
2001 - Jamie decides to try something new using computer programs. He remixed the JINX demo that Matt and him did in 2000, and made 2 demos using drum machines and loops under the project name JS. (which are my initials.) After I listened to them afterawhile, they started to really suck ass. I felt as though my musical inspirations have literally gone to shit. So I stopped making music altogether, plus my kids were at a very young stage and didn't have any time to prolong my musical carrer.
2002 - Nothing happened this year.
2003 - Nothing happened this year.
2004 - My kids were a little bit older now and I had some free time on my hands to search for brand new music composing programs. At the end of January/beginning of February, I came across a program called Fruity Loops (or FL Studio as it's called now.) So I installed it, messed around with it a little and started getting down quite a bit of riffs, drum patterns, bass lines and some added synths & keyboard notes. I was heading for a gothic sound with my new compositions. I took a breather, so I went outside for a smoke, and came up with a name for this project that I started... thus FROZEN MIST was born.
