The Allegro’s start playing in 2005, evolving from the ‘Left Wing Intellectuals’, a project of Thomas Hopman and Frank de Jong. With a background of playing Reggea, Ska and Punk, the music changes to rock ‘n roll. Frank playing bass and Thomas on the guitar. Loek joins the band as a second guitar player together with Henk ‘Spank’ Stenneberg on drums. Next to this the organ and synthesizer are introduced to create the Allegro sound. Influenced by both old and new music the music evolves into a widespread mix of old rock ‘n roll, pop, blues and surf combined with new (indie) rock bands. A demo ‘We Like Your Style’ is recorded in at Thomas’ studio. With influences from bands such as Queens of the Stona Age, Johhny Cash, The Police, Screaming J Hawkins, The Beatles, The Phantom Four, zZz, Block Party and Maximo Park the Allegro’s start building up their repertoire. With most of the band members living in and around Amsterdam The Allegro’s start playing shows in the end of 2005! In 2007 a fifth band member was found in David Valle, the voice from Barcelona . With both Thomas, Loek and David switching guitar, vocals, organ and synthesizer the final Allegro sound has come to life!
