"MORNING ALL!"
When We Talk are...
Nick / Craz / Dan / Gib / Mart
May 2006 saw the micky-taking-emo-bashing quartet of When We Talk get together in Craig bedroom. Starting out as a guitar and sing two-piece with Nick & Craig, When We Talk diverged into a 4 piece with 3 members not even capable of playing an instrument. It was all fun and games at first, songs about moany neighbours and drum beats simpler than White Stripes galore, but upon the arrival of Ricky Gibson to make up the 5th member; WWT got serious and put their heads down to recording ‘catchy, more rocky songs’ like ‘Song For You’.
December 2006 WWT played alongside MeAndMyEgo (myspace.com/meandmyego1) and Down/Hill (myspace.com/downhill) for a charity gig with new boy Ricky on board only 5 weeks previous. They played to a crowd full of locals who already knew the music and the sing along to ‘Emo C*nt’ is immortalised on YouTube. In January 2007, WWT again went live at the Golden Lion Pub, Romford, this time to a crowd full of unfamiliar faces. All went well, but shortly afterwards the decision was made to drop Emo Cunt and the whole ‘micky take’ image that When We Talk had begun with was to be dropped too. Instead, WWT spend every Tuesday night at there make shift recording studio (Craig’s Bedroom!) rehearsing and writing new music every week with a Boss Digital 4-Track.
September 2007 saw WWT make a return to making noise on local radio show Curveballs (Phoenix FM). The night saw first plays of the professionally recorded 'Song for You' and 'Idiosyncratic' - which now feature on this myspace. There was also a live acoustic session of 'Rosemary', 'Infectious', and a cover of Justin Timberlakes 'Lovestoned'. Up the now WWT still hold the record for most emails ever sent into the show.Comparison wise, WWT have always struggled to find the band most similar to their sound, but are most put alongside the pop-rock genre and likes of 'The Frattelis' & 'Fall Out Boy'
‘Any Questions Answers’ said "A band with a future. Mixing contemporary pop sounds with a soulful sound, When We Talk will be talked about this year"
