About Me
An amalgamation of three different continents, its amazing this London
based threesome ever met up.
Vocalist Blair Booth and technician Philipp Erb fled their home countries America and Switzerland in search of a creative haven in London. Enter Ladbroke Grove based rapper, lyricist and thinker Trevor Miles. The band burst into the charts and the publics hearts with their wonderful debut single, an adaptation of Buffalo Springfield's For What It's Worth which found the original message of galvanising the forces of political change just as relevant in the new millenium as when Stephen Stills first penned it.
Their debut album, Oui Love You can only be hailed as a feast of melodic beats and sly humour, that gets you to stop, listen and think to the music. It is a striking collection of glorious multi-faceted summer pop moments. Forget that it was recorded in deepest Kensal Rise in mid winter. This is the hazy psychedelic summer sound of the sixties swinging in perfect hip-hop beat with cosmopolitan vibe of London, stopping on the way to pick up textures, moods and modes from funk, dub, soul and, of course, classic pop.
With the assistance of some of the biggest names from all spheres of music - Youth, Jah Wobble, Louie Vega (the hip-hop maestro famed for his work with Naughty by Nature and Queen Latifah), and the rhythm sections of both Galliano and The Brand New Heavies -
Oui 3's Oui Love You displays a love of life.
Tops down, shades on, windows open, the first breath of sweet soulful summer. Oui 3
love you, of course. And now its time to return it. With chocolates, bouquets and plaudits.

MORE ABOUT OUI 3
After a few bumbs Oui 3's debut album Oui Love You hit the top 40 in 1994. The trio stood head and shoulders above many of their contemporaries, not least because of the sixties influence in their music, coupled with a strong political sensibility. They were also distinct for featuring a female singer, unusual for a hip hop act at the time, and Trevor Miles was undoubtedly the first major rapper to perform in his own South London accent. The band headline toured Britain and Europe, playing summer fesivals Glastonbury and Phoenix during 1993 to 1995. They gigged with Jamiroquai through out the UK and Ice T's Bodycount in Milan! They made 8 videos, three of which were directed by the award winning Richard Heslop. Blue Source are also credited for their marvelous sleeve designs.
