Having played in this line-up now for more than five years, rafi.d (bass), wolfi (vocals), mich (guitar) and &i? (drums) have only parted when travelling the world for gathering new inspirations for their passion which otherwise welds them together: rocking the stage with their kickin’ ass music, in which – when listened to carefully – nuances of India, Nepal, Turkey, Australia, Thailand, Spain, Morocco, Italy, France or Cuba amongst many others can be found.
Committing themselves to a Rock’n Roll as it was played back then in times when it held the power to blow minds and radios, they regard it as their heir to treat each of their songs with due respect to the legends of their musical ancestors.
But their sound does not follow any pre-set models: ranging from slowly floating ballads to punching rock pieces, their multi layered musical spectrum spans from Reggae to Ska-Punk to Stoner-rock and beyond, which gives every song its unique touch.
Sun Pedro loves performing on stage. Born of the moment, their characteristic sound derives from the straightforwardness of their playing as well as from their singer’s incredible voice.
Being on stage, the band’s joy, passion and commitment to their music will reach even the last corner of the most smoked-up club: where Sun Pedro rises, there is no place for darkness or misery.
This does not mean that their songs are sugar-coated; quite the contrary is the case as for many the social criticism in their lyrics might be a punch in the face.
But their attitude towards life remains – one could say – an aggressively positive one ...‘let the sunshine in!’ ... is what they stand and call for – no matter if in English or in German.
After numerous live-gigs in Austria, Sun Pedro’s first album altbacken which presents two studio- and five live- recordings was released in 2003 and soon sold out.
But instead of waisting time, money and energy in reproducing altbacken, the band decided to move on because the meanwhile newly gained experiences and ideas screamed for being brought to manifestation in the form of a second album.
A process which should last three years, but being worth each day of it. The genial artist Chris Scheuer, inspired by the music, finally designed the cover and artwork for Green Queen which was released in spring 2007 and which can be obtained world-wide from iTunes, Amazon.de, Rocking Horse(AUS) and many others. Having rocked Austria extensively over the last few years for example as the support band of ‘Ten Years After’, Sun Pedro recently also ventured to international stages and played shows in Slovakia and Germany where their audiences received them enthusiastically.
