About Me
PAWEL MACIWODA was born in Krakow, Poland and upon his father’s encouragement he began playing the bass at the age of 15, which instantly earned him his permanent nickname: BABY. After just a few short years, he was one of the busiest bass players around. Still at a very young age Pawel was also part of the popular jazz-rock band WALK AWAY, lead by the world famous violinist MICHAL URBANIAK and vocalist URSZULA DUDZIAK. Together they recorded “Magic Ladyâ€.
In 1990 Pawel arrived in the United States with URSZULA & JUMBO, a Polish band
which he quickly left to indulge himself in performing with American musicians instead.
In the summer of 1991 Pawel moved to Florida where he recorded and played with Florida’s most popular hard core band GENITORTURES.
Pawel then moved to New York and immediately began work with a variety of blues, fusion, funk and rock bands, including D-BOP, NUM, FIRST HOUSE, AF THE KING and many others.
In those times Pawel had a chance to play or one-time jammed with such a music stars like:
PETE TOWNSHEND (THE WHO), WILL CALHOUN (LIVING COLOUR), SPIN DOCTORS AND BLUES TRAVELER.
In 1996 together with ADAM HOLZMAN (former MILES DAVIS BAND) formed SECTION 31 and released an album entitled “Time Travelerâ€. At that time he also renewed his cooperation with MICHAL URBANIAK and is featured on his album URBANATOR.
Between 1997-99 Pawel recorded 2 albums with the legendary Polish hard-rock band TSA.
In 2001 Pawel returns to Poland where he remains to be a very busy session musician, playing and recording with ODDZIAL ZAMKNIETY, LAPD, FUNK DE NITE and REDKOT.
While in Poland he participated in special events which include playing a show with DEEP PURPLE'S drummer IAN PAICE on his drummers’ workshop in Opole ’03 music festival and touring with the American guitar star HIRAM BULLOCK.
On January 10, 2004, he was officially introduced as a permanent member of world famous band - SCORPIONS.
