In the second half of 2006, Tom Short & Adam Smith from a previous band project looked around and auditioned local guys for the roles of drums and bass to join them in forming a new band. Finally after numourous auditions and lineup changes they had found Chris Tunnicliffe on bass and Alfie Ealham on drums as the ideal lineup. Practicing together and beginning to write songs as a nameless project they began to formulate the classic C27 sound. As it came into early 2007 the band really came into form, demoing songs and booking the first shows of their career coming with that their first wave of fans. Finally deciding upon the band name Closer To Seven to mark 2007 as the year the franchise really began and gaining first experiences of playing live shows, recording in a studio and investing in heavy artillary (gear) to blow their early fans away! The first couple of shows proved successful, particularily a battle of the bands in which the band came second by a very close fringe. Second show, second place! However later, unfortunately Closer to Seven was forced to cancel various shows with Chris Tunnicliffe focusing on another project of importance. So it was that Closer to Seven had to find a replacement and within the same year they found lee cossins to replace chris and then proceeded to book shows of early 2008 now they were able to play with a full lineup. A recording of She Acts Like She Wants Me was chosen to played on a local radio show and confidence was flooding back into the camp. Now in 2008, the band is focusing on recording an independant release E.P featuring that song and a re-recorded version of Just Turn Around since the early demo of that song was unfortunately rushed but still a favorite among early dedicated fans, for whom the band has utmost respect and why they see 2007 as such a vital year. Planning to release their E.P to sell at their 2008 shows the band hope the future to be busy, noisy and a lot of fun!
