Once he picked up the mic there was no turning back. J has since devoted himself to developing his amazing gift for the craft. Big J the artist was born when he rocked his 1st stage in middle school in 1995. Although he hasn't quite reached arenas, Big J has appeared on many local stages, from high school talent show’s, college shows, and even small club venues around the Mass. region. Crediting emcees such as the likes of the Notorious B.I.G and Jay-z as his inspirations and favorite artists. Learning that said artists preferred to commit their rhymes to memory than to paper intrigued him the most. It was only fitting that he would follow suit, reliquishing the pen and developing his legendary freestyle skill.His ability to freestyle at an instance ultimately lead him to become a battle emcee taking out many challengers anywhere, anyplace, anytime. Some victims even being some of your favorite Boston acts. Big J has won many battles be it small or showcased. He was retired hot 97 battle of the beast champion in 2002 after winning 4 weeks in a row. Not much later he became the 2002 biscuit records battle champion, which allowed him to meet D.J STATIK SELEKTAH and have a stint on his SPELL MY NAME RIGHT SERIES. Since then Big J has appeared on several mix tapes, most notablably “THE GREEN MONSTER, B.M.W (BOSTONS MOST WANTED) keeping his skills sharp by appearing at battles such as the avenue tavern weekly $100 battles among others. Big J stepped away from the music to peruse other dreams after turning down a major label due to unsatisfactory terms. He most recently has worked with up and comers C.S.P in conjunction with Ill City and Strait Shooters ENT. Big J was also recently was featured on Spotlite DVD series and the Best of the Bean DVD. After local tracks he has worked on started receiving a buzz he decided to step back in the game. At 24 he has plenty of time to climb the ladder and one day be considered one of hip hop elites.
