About Me

The Savoir Faire officially started in 2002 as the "band version" of ringleader, Mark Opel's, solo project entitled Octa P.A. Opel was planning to move to Denver and wanted the chance to play his songs one last time in Athens in band form. We played our first show with Hayride and Annaray at TastyWorld in Jan. 2002. The original lineup was Opel on guitar and vocals, Christina Hogan on bass, Brant Rackley on drums, Raleigh Hatfield on guitar/vocals, Chris Giddens on guitar/keys along with back-up singers, Jen Oliff and Annie Mercker.The current lineup is Mark on guitar/keys/lead vocals, Christina Hogan Opel on bass/guitar, Chris Giddens on bass/guitar/backing vox, and Peter "Fabulous Bird" Alvanos on drums.With the start of 2008, we look forward to playing out more and getting some new music in your ears. The selections on the media player are from a 6 song ep recorded three years ago with Andy Baker. Hopefully we'll get the ep pressed soon and have a new one on the way.Chris and Peter enter the new year as 1/2 of local band, The Empties, so check them out also!!
