Kyle Hall and The Holy Qur'an - Stiky Ripz- The Making Of WO-1000
Kyle Julian Hall was Born July 17th 1991 on the West side of Detroit Michigan. Since birth Kyle Hall has always been attached and surrounded by music. He had no choice, ever since he was in his mothers stomach his ears were in tune to the sounds of his mother (Penny Wells) singing. Both his Aunt his mother are both Jazz vocalist, his Aunt Tia Imani Hanna is a violinist, his Great aunt Georgia Davis was a famous opera singer and his Late great uncle was the world renowned Sir Roland Hanna. Music was in this Child's DNA. One way or another he was bound to be immersed in music. In Kyle’s early years he was exposed to various forms of music. This gave him a very eclectic and non-discriminating view of music. He feels that true soul music is the expression of ones own feeling no matter genre it is. That’s why to day when you see him perform he’s known to mix various genres of music into one cohesive set. The way the Young Prodigy got in to electronic music was through his mother’s old High school friend who is known in Detroit as one of the baddest house, Djs Raybone Jones. Ray took Kyle under his wing and taught him the history of the music, he also taught Kyle how to spin. From that time on at the age of 11 he was hooked. As time went on he got his own set of turntables and he practiced everyday after school until his mother told him it was to late and to turn it down. Even then Kyle listened to the records in his headphones and kept going until 6 or 7 A.M. Music gave Kyle a sense of determination and purpose. While all the other kids in the neighborhood outside Playing Basketball or causing trouble, Kyle was in his bedroom cutting up cassette tapes and mixing records. Eventually he made the natural progression from just playing records to trying to make records. Kyle was highly influenced and captivated by the Underground Deep House sound Detroit. Kyle would listen to Detroit artist Like Theo Parrish, Mike Huckaby, Rick Wade, 3 chairs, KDJ and Omar S. To Kyle the music they were making was touching another level. Their music had a certain feeling of the advant garde and liberation from the so-called rules people place upon dance music. Kyle took that principle of their music and applied it to music that he was trying to create.
Eventually these Artist’s Kyle looked up to as influential became his friends also. Kyle ended up meeting Rick Wilhite of the 3 chairs through a mutual friend who told him about Rick’s record store vibes in Oak Park. Ever sense that trip to the record store Kyle and Rick have become good friends. Through Rick, Kyle was personally introduced to the Detroit Underground House music scene. With this Happening Kyle became even more ignited with determination. In 2005 Kyle met Detroit Deep House Legend Mike Huckaby. Kyle met Mike at a Youth recreation center called Youthville. Mike was teaching a class on the music production software Native Instruments Reaktor 5. There Kyle formed a relationship with mike. Mike taught Kyle a great deal about signal flow and synthesis. He served as a great Knowledge base for all of the million and one question Kyle had regarding the technical aspect of Music production. One day Kyle gave Mike a mix CD he had done. Mike thought the CD was Dope. He couldn’t believe a 14 year old could bang like that! So mike decided he wanted to get him on the radio. Mike was in charge of booking DJ’s to play on Detroit’s late night house music show club insomnia and also he had his own show on CJAM 91.5 in Canada. Needless to say Kyle was featured on both shows which further showcased his talent as a producer and DJ.
In the span of 2 years, more and more people started to become aware of Kyle's talent, even software companies. In May 2007 Propellersheads wanted to promote its software on Channel 4 News, for Detroit's electronic music festival. So Kyle was asked if was interested in doing Demonstrations for the product and of course he complied. Days later Kyle went to his friends the 3 Chair's, DEMF after party. There he got a chance to see one of his favorite techno artists Omar S. play. After hours upon hours of dancing Kyle decided to sit down take a break. Little did he know something was about to happen that was going to change his future. Omar, after his set was over he came up to young Kyle and said "What up Nig,Your Kyle right?". From that point on Kyle and Omar were cool. A few weeks after DEMF Omar told Kyle he was interested in putting out Kyle’s music out on his own E.p. Bam! October 2007 the Plastik Ambash E.p. was born. As of today at age 16 Kyle has been Djaying around Detroit doing things from clubs to youth events. Kyle's Main goal in Life is to spread Knowledge and inspiration through his music and his journey has already started. Expect many great exciting things from this young Detroit Prodigy for years to come
