Considering the City of Chicago is full of legends, at last a group to fulfill the legacy…The duo UNLYSTED consists of vocalist Lorenzo Skinner and lyricist Corey Massey also known as Renzo and C-Mass. Both born and raised in Chicago, they are best friends since grade school and can practically complete each other’s sentences. They merged their talents in early 2002 and at 16 years of age formed UNLYSTED after years of cultivating their respective talents of which they compliment each other quite nicely. Lorenzo (Renzo) is a complete vocalist with a cool and laid back demeanor and is considered a vocal acrobat. C-Mass is the ladies man who charms with his sense of humor and overall realness. Their looks certainly compliment their style with Renzo’s light eyes and full lips and C-Mass’s height and voice they have definitely become a favorite of the ladies. By all means they are like the ying and yang.Having grown up in the church, Renzo’s counts his vocal inspirations as R.Kelly, Dave Hollister, John Legend as well as Tyrese. C-Mass’s rhyme style is aligned with the talents of Fabolous, Cassidy & Lil Wayne. Both being from Chicago they go both hard when performing. With a sexy fusion of both R&B and Hip-Hop they would fit into an urban format of which they have already established a quite reliable and loyal fan base.Both Renzo and C-Mass love writing and are certainly poets in every way. They enjoy performing to recorded tracks but love to perform with a live band during which they can completely showcase their skills. Both have long-term career potential in both writing and performing.They have performed extensively in both Chicago and New York in artist talent showcases and small venues such as The Cotton Club & Sugar Bar in addition to the legendary Apollo Theatre in Harlem. In fact they conquered the Apollo audience during Amateur Night completely upstaging the actual headlining group (Chapter 4, J Records) with a long-standing ovation. They are noticeable by their self-empowered realness and the fact that they sound like themselves and are by no means carbon copies of any other. Currently they are looking forward to performing on BET’s 106th and Park for “Wild-Out Wednesday” and extending their fan base of young adults that can relate to them both male and female.UNLYSTED is both tasteful and sexy and has the ability to capture an audience. When performing at Sugar Bar, Valerie Simpson of Ashford & Simpson was “Floored” at their live performance. They were also lauded by Sony Music’s Ron Grant as being “really good and I’m not even into rap!” Executives at Thrumen Records/Sony Red have made it very clear that “these young men WILL make it”.With a style that can be labeled UNLYSTED…they certainly will make it!
