About Me

I have always been a person who loved music. When I was young I was around ten years old, I constructed my own two string guitar and began to write songs. Although it would be years before I would actually begin to learn real chords and theory, music has always been in my blood. I didn't really start to write songs until about four or five years ago, and it all started when I had quit drinking alchohol. At the time alcohol was my way of life and with out it, I really needed something to occupy my time. So one day I wrote a song, not really thinking too much of it at the time. It was called "the dead," and it was about how when you drink all the time you kind of are walking around like you are dead. So one day at a friends house I played the song with much embarressment, because it was in this circle of friends outside my norm. Much to my surprise they all really enjoyed it and was a huge confidence booster for me especially at that point in my life. From that moment foward I tried and tried really hard to become the best song writer I could. The problem was it became everything I was just as alcohol once was. So my stability in life was hedged around the success of my musical endeavors. Nothing really started to fall into place for me until I found something else. When I found the lord everthing became possible. and thats my story.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: none
Band Members: In the studio, I have been primarly been working with john patterson. but live I belong to a band thats name has been ever changing, initially it was the "powerstation underground rangers". then it was "lampstand", we are unsure what it is now. but as far as a lineup its just drums played by nate dorman, and me on guitar and vocals.
Influences: have lots of influences I suppose, a lot of older rock like the beatles, and led zepplin. for recent influences definitely radiohead and wilco. and my roomate and ex- band mate eric jackson has influenced my song writing tremendously
Sounds Like: sounds like alternative rock i suppose. very straightfoward for the most part. although I have some recordings that have been rather strange and eclectic but don't plan on releasing any of those yet.
Type of Label: Major
