Having a long stream of musicians, models and actors
in her family, Patrice virtually started in the
entertainment business as a child. Her father, a
singer/songwriter in Boston trained her to perform in
front of live audiences in church at the tender age of
six.
At 9, she found herself in the mirror or on her
dads musical equipment imitating her favorite
entertainers like Chrissie Hynde, Janet Jackson, and
Ann Wilson. Her father was convinced that Patrice was
destined for stardom. He began taking her to his
rehearsals with his band, The Masters. She listened,
she learned, she loved.
By the age of 11, she was
performing in the family act her dad put together
called Guess Kids which included her younger sister
Candice, and two cousins. The bubble gum quartet
landed neighborhood gigs and radio interviews on
college stations.
In the following years Patrice decided to venture out on her own. She found a manager and producer to jump start her solo career.
She began recording in professional studios and
singing background vocals for various local artists.
She became musically independent at twelve years old.
Patrice was scouted the next year at a bus stop by
Elvin Jonzun, brother of producer Maurice Starr - the
mastermind behind teen sensations New Kids On The
Block and New Edition. After listening to her singing
to her walkman and hearing her recording, he got
permission from her parents to join as lead singer in
an all girl band called The Milton Ave. Girls who were
the nieces of Maurice Starr.
The Milton Ave. Girls played various clubs in and around Boston, although once they performed they had to leave immediately
because they were all under age! The band started a
tour called The Milton Ave. Girls City Wide Tour. They
rocked out at middle schools, as well as acted out
plays educating students about the dangers of drugs.
After graduating high school, Patrice took a break
from The Milton Ave. Girls to begin college while
still actively singing. She recorded radio jingles and
backing vocals for recording artists.
Realizing that her love for guitars and rocking the stage with
bandmates still seemed to flicker in her heart, she
linked back up with the band and started all over.
Soon, Vanessa joined and some months later, Stella
Jang was added. This diverse blend was the birth of
the band now known as GirlParts.
