Reina Elan is an up-and-coming R&B/Pop singer from Ann Arbor, MI. Being half black and half Marshallese (Pacific Islander), Reina has learned to embrace both sides of her cultural roots and heritage. Having spent many years in her youth singing island songs/chants in addition to memorizing hip hop/R&B themed tunes, Reina has learned to fuse all styles of music to create her own. Her distinct flavor in the game is simply amazing, setting her apart from the many typical bubble gum pop, tone deaf mainstream singers praised for their unrelenting cliche love themes and non-originality.
Amiss from the wealth of untalented youth, 18 year old Reina Elan shines in her own light, possessing a uniqueness like none other. Her name says it all: Reina meaning "Sound of jewels + Nara" and Elan meaning "Enthusiastic vigor and liveliness or distinctive style or flair."
Performing since her toddler years, Reina has acquired a gift instilled in her by her environment and family. Growing up in a household of musicians, she had no choice but to become indulged into the music. As the daughter of a Music Teacher and younger sister of brother musicians, Reina often ran around in the house as a baby imitating tv performers in a diaper with a pacifier nearby.
Reina made her first public appearance singing with her father's steel drum band at the tender age of 9. Over the course of time, she began gaining newly found vocal skills, training day by day at home. Under the vocal training by her father and other coaches, Reina started experimenting with other various forms of music such as singing jazz and learning to scat. She spent countless hours listening to Sarah Vaughn and Ella, both huge influnces of her singing.
Having already won awards and medals for her singing, Reina Elan can hold her own on stage. She's performed in countless school events, multiple weddings, and competitions, including the nationwide NAACP ACT-SO competition. In addition to singing, she can dance gracefully like none other. Part of her free time consists of hula dancing at shows, attending hip hop/jazz dance classes, and teaching different varieties of dance classes from urban latino dance to hula. However you take it, she's an all around performer and is definately a rising young star to watch in the years to come. Bold and electrifying, Reina Elan is ready and willing to take control of her musical career and make an everlasting impact in the industry.
