My name is Terrence Benjamin, aka Flip. The name FLIP was chosen due to the fact that I'm always going through changes. Everytime I think something is going right, the tables turn.I was born in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina on January 25, 1979. I used to watch my cousins, friends and older brother, Antwuane (aka. A. Shabazz), record in the studio, perform on stage, etc... In 1991, my family and I family moved to Augusta GA. Me and my older brother would freestyle around the house, or I would freestyle with my friends at times, but that was as far as it would go for me. I always had a lot of love for music, but never thought of being part of the industry. Id rather be in the street playing basketball, or playing a video game, ya know. I grew up listening to Kool G. Rap, K-Solo, Run DMC & JMJ, Audio 2, EPMD, Cool J, Big Daddy Kane, Real Roxanne, BDP, Digital Underground, Nas, Slick Rick, Tupac, Kurtis Blow, Steady B, and many more. After the separation of my mother and father, in December, 1993, my school performance started to change, and my grades begin dropping. My brother and I would stay in constant contact with our mother and little sister, but it really hurt not to see their faces. In June, 1994, while Antwuane remained in Augusta, I relocated to SE Washington DC with my mother and sister. Me and my brother were always side by sided and it also hurt to be away from him. It was a lot of things happening while coming up in SE and NE areas of the city. Without any friends in this new environment, I started to focus more on writing my thoughts down. I had family around, but didnt have friends to kick it with yet. My brother influenced me to pick up a pen and pad and release my thoughtswhether negative or positive. On Christmas night of 1998, I became stressed out and put a gun to my head then pulled the trigger. The gun jammed, dropped and a bullet went through my foot. After that, I realized that the situation couldve turned out a lot different. I feel like my presence is truthfully a blessing. I now know that I was put on this earth for a reason. I begin getting more serious about my new loveMUSIC. To me, music is Therapy. What better way to get your thoughts out than to write it down. Get it off ya chest, stead of getting it of ya list.ya know. Theres too much hate and not enough togetherness. I truthfully feel that Im dat dude that can make the hardest kat feel him, or da oldest {m/f } ride to my words. My goal is to touch the souls of the world, all ages, and all races. I feel that the game has changed dramatically since the old school days of hip hop. A lot of rap artist get caught up in money, and forget about the main focus, which is LOVE. I feel that Im a lyricist. I would like for my poetic verses to reach out and hold the hands of the blind to guide them. Recently, Ive had the opportunity to show my growing talent of producing. My goal is to learn as much as I can whatever that may consist of. You never can learn too much.Over the years this is everything Ive been involved with from 1996-Present:Battled Red Dot (Def Jam Artist) on DC radio station WPGC95.5fm Had a promo song on WPGC 95.5fm Had a song play on DC Home Jams Invited to radio station by Dj Flexx and Rayne to have a opportunity to battle on stage at Jay Z concert Tried out for Puffys Making of the band Performed at The Red Train located in Marietta Georgia Performed at Open Mic (Ebony Inn) DC Performed at Open Mic (The Spot) DC Performed at Open Mic (Crossroads) Hyattsville MD Performed at Open Mic (Magic Q) Burtonsville MD Performed on Community (Community Center) Ft.
