Brown is a Drone based/Improv project that was started by J.Brown(JeremyLong), and Ian Watson in Portland, Oregon in the winter of 2002, Although, there have been a couple revolving door members. Brown is now a solo project headed by J.Brown. Brown aim to create lush soundscapes that range from extremely aggressive to extremely docile. Brown have nothing to do with the scientific study of the Brown note. Brown have utilized a widerange of insruments including Turntables, Guitars, Basses, Child’s Harp, Violin and Drums/Percussion. Currently Brown is inspired and focusing on simplified drone and minimilism that can extract microtonal harmonies that exist naturally and rely on the third ear.
J.Brown is also a Member of the Drone Metal Group Tecumseh.
Tecumseh was formed in 2004 originally 2 guitars and bass. The personel instrumentation changed soon after to 2 basses and electronics. With a final shift in personnel the line-up solidified in 2006 with John Krausbauer(Trees, City of Churhes)(bass), Ian Hawk (bass) and Jeremy Long (guitar/electronics). The first recording "Crossing Divides" (anarchymoon/black horizons) was completed in June 2006 recorded @ Audible Alchemy with Steven Wray Lobdell (Faust).Tecumseh released their second recordings in the winter of 2008 entitled “Avalanche and Inundation†(Important Records) which was recorded and engineered by Jeremy Romagna(Yellow Swans, Trees).
