About Me

After so many years of "buying" recording time and not being happy with the results, I thought I'd give this home studio thing a try. The studio is appox 26'X16'. It's an open room studio because being a drummer I many times engineer and drum at the same time so I optioned not to build a seperate control room. Now in 2008 I have an Alesis HD24 for tracking and I use Sonar for mixing. The console is a Soundcraft Ghost. For pre amps I use a Peavy VMP2, Toft ATC2, Aphex 107, Focusrite Trak Master. My DI is an Avalon U5.
I've enjoy buying and trying different microphones. My usual drum Mic set-up is an Audix D6 for the Kick and one for the floor tom, and Audix i5's for the toms For snare I've been switching between the Sennheiser 421, 441 and a 451. I vary the overheads with everything from Audio Technica 4040's to Niant MSH1's to ACM 310's to MXL 603's. For everthing else I switch between Studio Projects T3 tube mic, a MXL V77S, Advanced Audio modded 1050, Shure SM7, AT 4033, Royer mod mic(MA200), AKG 414, even a Joley modded Octava 319. This list goes on
My first love has always been drumming. So the studio has a choice of vintage Ludwig drums, Yamaha recording customs, and a GMS special edition set. I have about a dozen snare drums to pick from.
When I'm not in the studio I still try to keep my chops up by playing live shows. For the past year I've been producing and playing live with Circle Time Live http://www.myspace.com/circletimelive a fun childrens rock band. Recently I've returned to playing with Bad Attitude, who were signed in Canada to Attack Records (two full CD's released)http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=use r.viewprofile&friendID=333796146 I even play the parade circuit with a Dixieland band, 4+2. Some of my past bands include Dr Jimmy and The Who show, The Club (released 1 ep) Tokyo Pink (as their keyboard player) and a host of other groups.
I'm lucky that the studio is in my house so I can takes large chuncks of time for my own projects. Everthing playing on my page here is something I've worked on. I've had about a dozen CD's recored here that have been released.
This years projects are well under way with recording the music for the upcoming Circle Time Live DVD. I havcve also started work on the new Sarah Jean CD. And as always this year will see the release of A Musical Christmas Card Volume Seven.
Well, that's all for now!
