He studied Jazz at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London where he acheived a Masters in Jazz. He has studied jazz, rock, classical, blues, and funk styles under various teachers including John Parricelli, Dave Cliff, Phil Robson and Jeff Alexander. Richard has played with many diverse musicians including Richard Bailey, Victoria Newton, Vaughn Hawthorne Nelson, Paul Booth and Paul Zec. He is part of the 'Bearing Edge Trio' with Nick Peck (Hammond Organ) and Vince Clarke (Drums). Richard is a member of Paul Booth's Harbour Jazz Orchestra. He also enjoys supporting singers in duo formats. Richard's broad musical influences ensure that he is busy working in different genres including blues and rock bands as well as his own folk influenced band 'Duke Street' - regular favourites of the Broadstairs Folk Festival in Kent.
