About Me

I am eternally optimistic. I have always been one to bet on the underdog. Or to be the underdog. I have come a long way, but still have so far to go. Life is all about your attitude and I try to live by that theory. Keep learning new things and have an open mind and you'll stay young or at least young at heart! Time passes so quickly and there are still so many places I want to see. I have made it to Germany, Hawaii and a real dream come true...Australia! I am married to my soul mate and my life is a good one. I work hard, always have...and now I am trying to have more balance in my life. More time for myself and for my family. We all need a chance to recharge ourselves. My work has been in the labor movement for a long time now. It is great, inspiring work, but it is tough. The Union has changed my life for the better in so many ways and I love to see it transform others. My Interests

Spirituality, politics, organizing, my family, my home, gardening, being creative. I also am proud to say I've gotten arrested for numerous act of civil disobedience here in Las Vegas. One of my proudest moments ever was getting arrested with Frontier Strikers for participating in a sit-down on the Las Vegas Strip. (Thank God for those brave strikers...without them and their 6 year,4 month and 10 day long struggle...most of the organizing that has gone on in Las Vegas wouldn't even be possible. They and their organizers were a rock for the rest to be built upon.)There were 98 of us that sat down in the street that day and after that, I was hooked on it. I haven't been arrested now for several years and I miss the rush. Pretty funny thing to hear from a grandma, huh? Well, it must run in the family, because the same goes for my Mom. We've been arrested together for our Union. My husband and one of my sons, too. There is nothing like having the courage of your convictions.
