Dj Spika started djing at about age 15, in a sound system called Onyx. He played a mixture of music. Playing all over London and up and down the UK in parties and clubs, this is what has given him various musical flavors.
His first taste of production was around 1990, working with an American Hip Hop producer, making some British Rap. Over the next few years he worked on various styles of music, and by 1993, was deep into Jungle/Drum & Bass, when he teamed up with another producer, Paul McGrath and worked under the name Siamese Minds. They released tracks with various labels like [Ellis Dee and Swanie's Collusion Records] building up a name and enjoying djing with the tracks they made.
By 1996 he was working as a studio engineer, engineering and producing Drum & Bass, House and UK Garage, working with numerous established and up and coming producers and singers, Ratpack, Valerie M, Dominic B and Jeremy Sylvester to name a few.
From about 1998 he concentrated on mainly Drum & Bass and UK Garage, making and releasing tracks with various outfits around London, although most of his musical input was in Blackmagikk , making abstract drum & Bass, producing melodic, vocal alternative style tracks with lots of different flavored influences, PA-ing and DJing internationally.
At the moment Dj Spika is spending a lot of time working with Maxfield who are currently gigging throughout Europe. He is also teaching Dj Technology, in schools and colleges in the UK, and Djing in various clubs and radio stations (axefm.co.uk) . Production wise he is working on a wide range of projects in different styles of music, look out for his new album due for release SOONER OR LATER. . . . ....
