COMMANDMENT- One of Chicago's premier power metal bands from 1987 to 1989. Commandment were the winners of the Z-Rock radio demo contest in May 1987. This earned them air play rotation for a month on Z-Rock. This led to Commandment signing with Amethyst Records and released 'Engraved in Stone' in the fall of 1988. Tour followed through the midwest area, clubs included Thirsty Whale, Exit Club, Mickey's and Standing Room Only. The band received great reviews from magazines like Metal Mania, Silent Noise, Loud, Metal Hammer, Cream Metal Underground and Metal Rendezvous. The band attracted a big underground following. This led to the follow up recording called 'No Mercy' in the fall of 1989. At this point Amethyst Records went out of business. The release was tracked and rough mixed but never finished. The musical climate started to change in 1990 and Commandment could not find another label to release their work which led to the demise of Commandment in early 1990.In 2000, Commandment's 'Engraved in Stone' Release was picked up by O.P.M. Records and a limited 1000 run vinyl pressing was released and is currently sold out.
