I am here for Friends

About Me

My name's Aaron Gates, a US sailor. Six months ago, I started a journey. A peronsal one, a professional one, a spiritual one... It seems that the past six months have been a time of discovery and challenge, trying to decide where my path lied. Well, after all this time, I know. I know that I am a Christian first and foremost. After that, I am a father. Yes friends, I am the father of a beuatiful daughter, Susan Gates. She is the loveliest thing on this planet my eyes have seen and I love her dearly. After that, I love her mother Cate, who I am soon to marry. These three things make up the core of who I am now. A Christian, a father, a husband. Everything else seems so much smaller in comparison. But I don't forget them. I am still an American sailor, fighting for my country and my Navy and the land that my family resides in. I am a Texas, remembering my local heritage and those men whose lives and actions I try to mimic. And I am a son, a brother, a cousin, a friend, an academic, a lover of the arts, a historian, a dog lover, and to those of you close enough to my past, I am a Gobbler(go Mean Green)! I wish to share my journeys to you all and where I have been, where I am, and where I am going. I begin the next chapter of my journey, and in some way, you are all a part of it. Look upwards and share the wonders I've seen... the journey that I have taken and am still taking. God bless you all family, friends, and dear ones.

God was in every foxhole

"I remember sitting in a foxhole in the Ardennes Forest. It was freezing. The artillery was crashing all around us; bullets were flying; a Catholic priest came by to bless us; and the guy in the foxho...
