Reading, photography, working out, cuddling up with hot chocolate on a cold winter day or sitting in the sun with a Big Red (my fellow Southerners know what I'm talkin' bout) on a hot summer one. As long as I enjoy who I'm with, I'm usually down for whatever.
I'm pretty eclectic. My taste in music ranges from Motown and rap to Mozart and the Beatles. I dig Reggaeton, especially the Southern version.
Most action movies, even stupid ones. I watch documentaries and such and enjoy them, but overall, don't have particularly high standards - anything that lets me not think for two hours is great. Most recently viewed: The new Shrek movie...Kinda cute, and I like the Gingerbread Cookie. He's good peeps.
I've got the good cable now...70 channels, as opposed to like the 6 channels I had before...which is not necessarily good for my academic career, but hey who am I to battle the dark forces of the cable box?
Chicana Falsa, The Bluest Eye, Ellison's Invisible Man, Sherlock Holmes, The Giving Tree, Horton Hatches the Egg. By necessity, I'm always doing a lot of reading for my dissertation and for teaching purposes.
Most of the people in my life are heroes, because I only love the best. My mom for being the strongest woman I know and not even realizing it. My dad for giving me the tools I would need to be an independent woman. My brothers for being the best they can be and for being my partners in crime. My cuz Albert for making me laugh in the saddest moment of my life. My big (make that HUGE), crazy extended family for loving me no matter what, even though I keep running away. My grad school friends for getting me through, whether that involves tears or laughter, or some combination of the two. And all the peeps who have stuck with me through thick, thin, and a whole lotta crap that life seems to bring when we least expect it. It's been an interesting life, but having good people in my life has made all the difference.
