About Me

I started melody making at 14 when I started my first band Half the Battle. I played with them all throughout high school We released two E.P.s (Numero Uno & To France, With Love) and one full length (Sloppy Seconds). During that time I also played guitar in a punk band called Hit or Miss where we released X’s & O’s. When both projects disbanded in the summer between my junior and senior year I decided to take my songwriting to a new level and started the power pop trio SUNSET DRIVE. We worked furiously and did over fifty high energy performances. We also released two e.p.s (Good Enough & Scenic Route). We played a live acoustic set on The UNM radio station and released a live acoustic record called The Ear to the Ground Sessions. We had a tour planned for the summer of 06 but shortly before we lost a member of the band and things crumbled. Our last performance we played in front of over two hundred people.I have now gone out on my own reviving my solo career which before had only consisted of a bedroom recorded L.P. I had written for a girlfriend called All4U: Soothing Sounds for a Special Girl. More recently I have been recording my follow up with fellow Santa Fean singer/songwriter Ben Linke. It is tentatively titled The Blue Room Split E.P. In which we alternate from song to song. I’m even tracks he’s odd tracks. Keep an ear out It’s due to be released Late May/Early June!

"Guitarist-vocalist Zach Maloof is a sight to behold during live shows, especially when the band goes wireless. His frantically masterful guitar work, gangly extremities and vocal nonchalance find him in alternating fits of spastic rage and introspection. Drummer Jerome Pena and bassist Nick Pfeil provide the perfect backdrop for Maloofs stage antics, and they anticipate the many starts and stops of their high-energy songs..."
