GET OFF THE INTERNET! FESTIVAL
Cancellation - Official Statement.
As you may or may not be aware by this point we've had to pull the plug on the festival in its current form. The reason for this is basically due to slow ticket sales. With the lack of sales we found ourselves in a position where we would be unable to cover our expenses with bands, etc. This would have left us with a lot of angry bands and in big trouble financially ourselves. Perhaps we did an Icarus and tried to do too much, but our intentions were always the best.
Needless to say, we're not a big promotions company with cash to burn. We're just a couple of music fans who wanted to put something great on in a place starved of good music. There was always a risk to what we were doing, but we had faith in the idea that people would have been into the festival and things would have worked out great for everyone. But we're not going to bemoan how things have failed to work out and nitpick as to why. Obviously, there will have been issues like Reading/Leeds being on at the same time, the event being on a bank holiday Sunday and how out-of-the-way Hendre Hall is for most people, the price of tickets, people not being keen on the line-up, etc. At the end of the day, we tried our best for everyone and things haven't quite worked out, for which we can only apologise from the bottom of our hearts - both to fans and bands alike.
To those who have already purchased tickets, either online or from shops, you will of course be refunded fully. Those looking for their money back should contact us at [email protected] and we'll work out the best way of sorting things out for you. Again, we're really very sorry for this inconvenience.
To bands travelling to play, we're sorry for wasting your time with all of this. We were excited about seeing every one of you at the event - you were all literally handpicked by ourselves for the event because first-and-foremost we are music fans above everything.
We would, collectively, like to thank everybody who bought a ticket, was interested in the event, who offered to help out on the day and anyone who offered to help out in anyway, thank you so much and we just hope we haven't let you guys down.
For now, this is us signing off, apologetically,
GOTI! team
