About Me
When you hear the words articulate, innovative, adept, extrovert, etc. you cannot mention the name of Caleb Tha Bridge without using at least one of these words to describe his ability to communicate through music.Born Andrick Buggs originally from Memphis, TN, Caleb pursued his “first love†probably not long after leaving the womb. He says “…having an influence in the family already doing music made it easy to choose.†After observing from afar his “close to home†influence not to mention family member and jazz icon Kirk Whalum, he began to take music seriously. While he didn’t start off doing hip hop, he decided after seeing Kirk play Amazing Grace live, he concluded he had never seen anyone that passionate about music, so upon entering High School at Booker T. Washington Caleb enrolled in band with the intent of… yep you guessed it, playing saxophone, when unfortunately those plans were foiled by another family member who at the time just so happened to be the band director.Caleb was asked to play the baritone horn and his immediate response was “WHAT! Who plays that? I want to play the sax!†Nonetheless with no prior education in music, and while some (if their not already “seasonedâ€) usually don’t really get into it until their junior year, he learned how to read and play music that same semester and was prepared when it was time to play with the concert and marching band his first year. All along the way while his passion for music was brewing in instrumental music, he also had another passion brewing and was gaining more favor with Caleb by the minute. Through the likes of secular artists such as Public Enemy, L.L. Cool J, Big Daddy Kane, along with a host of other artists was Caleb’s interest in rap music ignited in the late 80’s, early 90’s.At the age of 13 he would learn the lyrics to songs by such artists and would mimic them as though they were his own. By the age of 15 he began to write his own and would challenge or “battle†other young rappers at school and in the neighborhood. Finally at the age of 18, he began a true quest towards the music industry by joining and forming local groups. During that period often during talent shows, many record label scouts, including Interscope and Warner Bros. voiced their interest in the young rappers, but none of the opportunities would ever go through. It was only God’s sovereignty prevailing and protecting the gift that He’d given him. Still being blinded by all of the fallacies that come with fame and fortune, Caleb continued to pursue the secular music industry not realizing that his life was slowly making a turn for the worst.Unfortunately that turn for the worse came when Caleb made some life altering decisions that landed him in jail, where his citizenship went from citizen to statistic, and was immediately regarded as “one of the many that wouldn’t make it to see twenty-one.†He continued to associate with the wrong crowd, which ultimately got him a term for 30 months in the Shelby County Correctional Center. Although he accepted Jesus as his personal Savior at the age of 11, it wasn’t until after his time of his incarceration that he rededicated his life and made Jesus Lord of his life! “We as professing believers especially proclaiming pastors and ministers MUST introduce the plan of Salvation correctly! I had no idea what I was doing, at the time it just seemed like the right thing to do because it made my folks proud.†he said. “Christ is calling us to more than just a surface acquaintance, which requires us to change and surrender the whole person inside out… at a rapid pace headed to hell I never understood this until recently.†He says.Today, Caleb is married to the lovely Dr. Nicole Buggs Ed.D., and they are current residents of Knoxville, TN.
Caleb is advancing towards becoming one of the most sought after artist in the culture, not only because of his ministry gift as an artist, but also because of his unashamed approach and witness to The Faith. Among his many accomplishments, Caleb has shared the stage with artists such as: Kirk Whalum,George Duke, Lalah Hathaway, John Stoddart, TRIN-I-TEE 5:7, Todd Agnew, Altered, Kutless, fem-phenom bassist Debra Killings, K-Drama, Canton Jones, Mr. Del, Leon Timbo, Jon Reddic & Epiphany, and a list of others, respectfully in addition to making showcase appearances at the world renowned Holy Hip Hop Awards.Caleb continues to stand firm on his faith in Jesus to see it all through. "According to 2 Corinthians 5:18, every believer has automatically been called into the ministry of reconciliation, so that alone is my mission, to be a bridge that will assist with the task of introducing the lost to Christ and to present a means of reconciliation to believers encouraging them to walk in the divine authority of a complete life in Him, which is ultimately what our Heavenly Father wants for us."“Everyone is given choices, no one is exempt.
