Religion and PhilosophyI have been wanting to write about this for a while, it may even be a few different blogs..This has been pressing on my heart for some time, and I keep on having this conversation with friends..Why do you go to church? Most people say to share spiritual experiences with others and witness. Others say to read and understand the word, or to be taught. But I ask the question, whatever your reasons are for church, are you getting what you need from it? I am getting so tired of people, young and old continuing to "play church". We hear pastors say that all the time, but it is the truth.. Most of the people in my age range if they do make it to 11:00 service, they sleep or text message through the whole service..lol. So my question is, why do you even go? Probably to put our own minds at ease that we went, or so that we can tell our parents that we went..But you know what, that is the WRONG reason..Even though u think that you have pleased the flesh by going to church, you have not pleased God. Some of us sit and complain about how we are not being spiritually fed, and we have not even put the time in to find the church that fits our spiritual growth. How can you complain, and you dont make an effort? Ladies, we will drive miles and miles to get the correct pair of shoes to match that outfit for the club, and men will drive miles to see that girl they just met the other night. But when it comes to church, we are too tired, or complacent. Church starts with the correct spiritual leader (pastor,bishop). A person that preaches only of the word and not of personal opinion. Someone who actually cares about their flock, and gets u excitied to learn more about the word..Let it be a place where you can express yourself however that may be without being asked to "dim your light"I know for me it has been such a road to get where I am spiritually today. I grew up learning about the bible, and all the basics, but when it came to learing at church time i was really interested. I was involved in all of the church activities and programs, which were fun, but those things do not help me grow in Christ. but once I started visiting many other churches and seeing how they worshipped, something inside me started to fill up..I remember just crying in church just to be happy that the holy spirit was leading me, and i felt it..Now when you see me in church I cant contain myslef.I now am learing the truth through bible study, and I can praise andworship Him (on tues, sat, or sunday, i dont restrict the holy spirit to a day) however and whenever i please..When you find that inside of yourself, it is a light that many can see. Alot of people from my past dont understand what happened to me..This maybe all over the place, but I encourage you that while you can..PLEASE find a church where you can learn about and enjoy the magnificence of God..
