Forming in June 2008, from various other bands and projects, this Melbourne band is bringing something special to Australia’s music platter. Defiant not be oxygen thieves and waste the people’s time, Passendale has come out booming to settle their place in this temperamental music world. Much like the name which derives from World War 1’s “bloodiest battle field in history’s bloodiest campaign”, these five young lads are here to leave their mark. After having only meet two weeks prior, Passendale began a home recorded winter demo which culminates from their varied backgrounds and tastes. These guys will be filling your eyes and ears with all sorts of exciting treats to come and are definitely a band to watch very closely.

"The pinnacle of the band's efforts are the singles - “A Place Like No Other” and “Crash/Burn." They are requisite, big chorus, chunky guitar type songs, that will easily grab casual listeners into the fray. However, it is when the band digs a little deeper into their emotional pockets that they truly find their symmetry. Arguably the album’s best is the mid-tempo, soaring melancholy of “Eleanor”; a lovelorn ode to, from what we can see/hear, a lost love. The song is powerful and moving, yet not overly sentimental and/or naïve. Their music understands the power of melody, while simultaneously utilizing subtlety and aggression to give the melody the impact it deserves.
