Bloco Firmeza

About Me

Bloco Firmeza is a samba bateria based out of Arcata, California. We have been playing the music of Brazil since 2003 and have played all around Humboldt County, San Francisco, and Santa Cruz. Many of our members have visited Brazil in the regions of Rio de Janeiro and Salvador to study this amazing percussive music. Bloco Firmeza was started by Humboldt State University graduate Rob Peterson, stewarded by Amy Cadle, and then Rudy Slizewwski. Bloco Firmeza is currently led by John Evans. We often collaborate with the local Brazilian dance troupe, Samba na Chuva. We play for parties, benefits, cabarets, parades and anything else that requires Brazilian beats. We also make an effort to raise an awareness in our local schools about the multicultural dimensions of music. Our rhythms create an infectious urge to dance that no one is safe from. WARNING: clothing may become optional at anytime.
