Tent for the Sun was formed in 2002 after singer and guitarist Luke Wyllie moved to the mid-north coast from Sydney and hooked up with new workmate Dave Tingle when they recognised mutual musical talents and interests. The pair soon found Leigh Ryan and began making music round the local area, before final member Brice Palmer came along to complete the band. While focusing on refining original music and lyrics, building a larger song base, and recording an EP, the band has played regular gigs at pubs, clubs and music festivals on the mid-north coast and beyond. The guys also feature regularly on local radio stations such as Max FM, 2BOB and Rhema FM. Tent for the Sun has played alongside well-known bands such as The Lads, Alabaster Box, Spoonfed, Sounds Like Chicken, The View, Stereo Baby Rage, Intone, The Zealroom, Zuigia and more. The guys have performed at, local festivals such as the Taree Christmas Carols, Buhledehlah Show and music festival, Godfest, local high schools and youth groups, and played regular gigs at pubs and clubs in Taree, Port Macquarie, Forster, Gloucester, Wingham, Harington and Laurieton. Not confined to the mid-north coast, Tent for the Sun has also played in The Attic in Five Dock, Sydney, The Underground - including Enliven in Sydney as well as the Black Stump music festival, a three-day event held near Wollongong, south of Sydney, and one of the largest of its kind in Australia. They have also played at AGMF up in Toowoomba, Qld. They rocked The Cat and Fiddle pub in Balmain, Sydney, and pubs in Newcastle such as The Lucky Country and the Cambridge Hotel
