Profile: V-BiLT (JiMi BuRKe)
Just 30 minutes from New Orleans and about 1 hour from Baton Rouge lies a small town, in St. John Parish, Similar to any other hood world wide. Ranging from young cats hustling to get what they desire, to families struggling to make ends meet. SJP is also the birthplace of the super group V-BILT.
The name originates from the wealthy well-known Vanderbilt family in the 1800's who strived and hustled to become one of the riches families in the history of America, which is similar to what we are trying to become, one of the riches families in America gaining money, power, and respect along the way.
The group consist of Tejuan (S.P.I) Cook , Rayshone (Jimi MOSSBERG Burke) Manuel , Rodrick (ROC HARD) Placide and extended member super-producer Adrian (Bistro) Usand. Established in 1999, V-BiLT isn't your average rap group, with a more national style ranging from street corner music, to club jams, to that hip-hop feel good music. After losing a number of members due to disloyalty, cowardess or watever the case may be. V-BiLT has made a bond among each other that goes beyond music, DBD(Death Before Dishonor), Keeping their circle nice and tight. To sum it up in three words and I qoute "WE CAN'T LOSE".

Although these days rap artist are a dime a dozen and one seems to be more generic and forgettable than the next, there is the occasional star on the rise that seems to catch your ears and eyes and makes you pay attention. Jimi Burke is such an artist-engineer. Born in Lutcher, La. Burke grew up as, Rayshone Manuel, living with his two brothers, one sister, and both his mother and father. He was surrounded by music at a very young age. His father played drums for his church choir every Sunday and always filled their home with that good down home gospel music. This is where Burke’s interest in music and desire for the spotlight was developed.
At first deciding the perfect name seem to be a difficult decision for Burke, until one morning he awoke to a documentary on Jimmy “Da Gent” Burke. The Gent was known as the brains behind the well organized “Lufthansa Heist”. During this particular heist millions in cash and jewelry was acquired. Before the show could end Burke had determined this would be his new stage name. The Gent made history, gained money, power, respect, and fame from his involvement in the heist. Even though it was criminal activity that gave him his boss status Burke felt he and the Gent had the same goals. The only difference Burke was planning to use his talent to pull off a heist in the music industry. Mossberg is just an alias that was giving because of reputation in the hood.
For the past 7 years Burke has been putting it down on the lyrical front and has gained respect from many in his hood. He pulls his inspiration from some of his favorite artist such as; 2Pac, Jay-z, Nas, and U.G.K to name a few. Burke plans to make a name for himself and show he has the potential to survive in the music industry. His music is composed of lyrics that make you think and understand the man behind the mic. He writes about how he feels, what he has done, and what he plans to do. His sound has been described as “catchy feel good” music. Burke is a natural. His writing skills and delivery is only getting better. Most artist lack a sense of independence, but not Burke. Since the relocation of his group members due to hurricane Katrina, he has been creating his own buzz. Collectively as a group, V-BiLT has recorded over 70 songs (not including mixtapes), but as a solo artist Burke has recorded over 45 songs (not including mixtapes) in his in-house studio equipped with Pro Tool 7LE. His recently released mixtapes ranging from 23 to 30 songs (half of which are original tracks) has made him the talk of the streets. He has had interviews on 102.9FM (Houston, TX.), 94.9FM (Baton Rouge, LA.), 104.5FM (New Orleans, LA.), and SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY-T.V SHOW (Baton Rouge, LA.). Burke has also performed at SKY BAR (New Orleans, LA.), CLUB MAXWELL'S (Dallas, TX.), THE RENAISSANCE (Baton Rouge, LA.), BRENDA'S PLACE (Jersey City, NJ.), and CLUB MANSION (Brick, NJ.). Burke realizes that you can’t just wait around for things to fall in your lap, so he has been doing all the necessary foot work to give his career a boost. With the expected release of his new mixtape, which has tracks produced by Paulus of Extreme Entertainment/Universal, Key-note of Drama Setters Production, in-house producer Bistro, and an unofficial remix to Teedra Moses’ “You Better Tell Her” he should be nationwide. Nas said; “Hip-Hop is DEAD”. “WELL, I’M ABOUT TO RESURRECT IT!” says Burke.
