About Me

Please visit www.myspace.com/mouthmovements to keep up with our new project. Thank you!!After five national tours, 4 different vans, and over 300 shows nationwide, The Shape played their final shows in October 2005. The band started out as a 3-piece indie rock group in Johnson City, TN playing a local show here and their before making the decision to add another member into the lineup. The band kept busy promting local shows and finally recorded a 4 song demo in late 2002, which landed them a contract with southern california indie label Missing Words Records within months. Of course, as with any record contract, it was time to get focused and hit the road. The Shape began writing material immediately for their debut album for the label, as well as simultaneously booking a six week national tour to introduce themselves to eyes and ears across the nation. When landing in southern california, the guys hooked up with Roger Camero (No Motiv, Hymn For Her, The Warriors) to record and produce their debut LP which became known as "Breakin' in the Schoolhouse". The band once again booked another national tour and kept busy hitting new towns across the country. Times got tough, vans were lost, and Adam Boelts (guitar, breakin in the schoolhouse) decided to leave to pursue other projects. With another national tour coming up, The Shape borrowed their good friend Tyler Chen to fill in and do the job. While in CA again, the band recorded a 3 song EP entitled "3ep" which became an exclusive CD available at live shows only. When returning home, the guys found a permanent replacement on guitar. Who better then a friend for years...Nathan Fortenberry. The Shape embarked on another 2 month journey...only this time...they had suprisingly built a following around the nation. The band returned home to begin writing for their next LP, when they were offered an opening spot on tour with friends No Motiv (Vagrant Records) and Le Meu Le Purr (Blackbird Music). While in CA, yet again, the band recorded a 4 song demo for their upcoming sophomore LP. The band returned home and decided to move on to new projects and other priorities...and the LP was never released. However, the 4 songs are available through itunes and through us.
