Formed in May '97 in the small town of Pontian, Dewata spent their first year practising hard and performing in around Peninsular of Malaysia. Combining the most brutal elements of death metal with a bit of symphonic atmospheric dark metal touch with some of Arkangel's and Iron Maiden's riffings plus the violence of today's technical metallic hardcore of yore into blisteringly powerful yet melodiously catchy and instantly memorable songs, their first live shows left their mark on the crowd expressionless, dazed and stupefied. Soon they had rounded up a small base of Dewata loyals.
Dewata have been promising to deliver a song that glistens as well as it growls , rocks as hard as it punches and sounds as good as the band looks. Dewata have spread their wings with resolute bravery and determined skill, leaving behind childhood things and blossoming into musical adulthood.
The year 2001, barely 1 week old sees Dewata going into studio in Bandung to record new material. The result was a four songs showing a much stronger metal influence in their music, as well as a new found identity. During the whole year, the band kept working hard on new material.
And now Dewata are back and will hit the road once again. They're back with a vangeance....behold DEWATA!!!
