About Me

Updated 14 June 2008 ...
I've been rather fickle with my music choices lately. Today's selection is ... One More Day - Diamond Rio, in honor of my father.
..
My Details
OCCUPATION :: Philosopher, Dancer, Writer, Theologian, general pain in the ass

HOBBIES :: Dancing, Music, Movies, Travel, uh ... I like to read books esp about intrigue and spies and stuff. If it can be some historical fiction, all the better.

PERSONAL BIO :: I was born in a small dusty town in Pennsylvania, and I wandered through the world winding up in a dusty town in West Texas.

Once upon a time, long long ago, I noticed that I was often using the phrase, “That person can NOT be from this planet!” Then I suddenly realized that it was ME! I don’t know where I came from, but I anxiously wait to find out. I’m hoping that everything will make sense there.

My Interests

history, literature, film, music, dance, travel, people, theology ...

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who does the right thing because it's the right thing to do. who does what is right as opposed to what is easy. who isn't hung up on the superficial. OR is successful ... based on their OWN definitions despite it all.

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.
- Aristotle

I know that you believe that you understood what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
- Robert McCloskey

Music:

Whatever I happen to be listening to at the time ... That's not particularly helpful. This is by no means an absolute list because I like some songs in these categories, but it is less likely that I'll be listening to alternative, heavy metal, modern jazz, rap, or really twangy country music ... But like I said, you never can tell. lol

Movies:

Casablanca, Auntie Mame (w/Rosalind Russell), LotR TTT, PotC 1, Spiderman, Saving Grace, Adams Rib, The Maltice Falcon, HP: Prisoner, The Sting, Kiss Me Goodbye, ffolkes, Casino Royale, Steel Magnolias, Star Wars (in order of release 1-3, & 6)

Television:

The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Alias (now that they're not making them any more), So You Think You Can Dance, The Simpsons (sometimes)

Books:

Jane Eyre, Between the Bridge and the River, most anything by W.E.B Griffin, lots of stuff by Elizabeth Peters, some stuff from Tom Clancey, everything I've read by Tom Wright

Heroes:

The Pope. I admire anyone willing to wear that get-up in public. That's living by your principals.
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.
