CHAAYA – A LIFE DEDICATED TO SINGING AND DANCINGROOTS – Sri Lanka, in English “resplendent land”, provided Chaaya with her mystical personality, inherent natural Asian manner and fascinating elegance of movement.CHARACTERIZATION – Europe: Chaaya grew up in Switzerland, which characterized and reinforced her discipline and determined creativity.INITIAL PERFORMANCES – Chaaya first saw success in the theater world. Attending acting and music school enabled her to hone her talents.CIRCUS ARENA – The popular children’s circus Robinson in Switzerland was Chaaya’s stepping stone to the magical world of the circus arena. She refined her form of expression and gained vital experience that is incorporated in her performances to this day.TRAINING – Chaaya took a three year course at the Canadian National Circus School, which is part of Cirque du Soleil.YEARNING – Chaaya wants to sing and dance. Her inherent love of movement led her to attend the renowned Millennium Dance Complex in Los Angeles, and sign up for various Hip Hop dance courses.PROOF – Within the space of a few days in Los Angeles, various agencies had asked her to audition for singing and dancing parts.TOUR – Her performances were very well received and she was hired as a dancer for the singer Dedra during her tour of California.AGENCY – Chaaya was signed up by one of America’s top-ranking dance agencies, the Agency West - and of course she delighted her agents.THE GIRL GROUP – Chaaya sang in the girl group 514 – an exciting, demanding and successful period. But she wanted more. She set herself the goal of a solo career.THE SOLO ARTIST – Chaaya was engaged as a background vocalist and dancer in various music videos (e.g. Shaggy-Sexy Lady). She performed successfully at various award ceremonies (BET Awards, Billboard Awards) and appeared in various TV commercials.ZURICH CALLING – After one and a half years, Chaaya decided to leave the States to put her talents to the test in Zurich.THE SATURDAY EVENING SHOW – Shortly after returning from the States, Chaaya became the principal dancer in the popular program Benissimo and delighted the TV audience.THE DANCE GROUP – Chaaya performed as the lead dancer of the American professional dance group Culture Shock.
