running, biking, tooling around on the piano (took lessons when I was younger), learning guitar, hiking, waterskiing, snowboarding, xc skiing, downhill skiing, extreme tubing, Lord of the Rings, jazz history, american history (for the past two or three years), anything that I have no clue about (hate feeling that I don't have the basics down)
celebrities are cool and all, but I'd rather just meet people that inspire me. People are people, famous or not. I wouldn't mind meeting Paul McCartney or Lance Armstrong just to have great conversation.
Pretty much anything. I'm all about mood music. My staples are Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, Simon and Garfunkel, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Tom Waits... I'm pretty into jazz in recent years: Miles, Louis Armstrong, Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday, Herbie Hancock. Frank Sinatra can often be found in my CD player. On occasion I'm into Eminem, the Pharcyde, DMX, Snoop, and Beastie Boys. Rage Against the Machine. While in Kuwait, I had a friend that got me into bands like Rise Against, Coheed and Cambria, and AFI(what does that stand for?!) Glen Phillips is great, with Toad or solo; after being saturated with his work in the early 1990s in college, I took a hiatus from his work, and have recently come to love it again.
Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Rocky, Godfather, Casablanca, Shawshank Redemption anything inspiring. I like underdog stories, historical films like Malcolm X, The Burbs, and most Harrison Ford stuff.
Can't say much in this arena. I like Smallville, Seinfeld, and The Office. I don't really like reality shows. The first season of American Idol was good, but I'm over it now.
Lord of the Rings. I've read most of the classic high school/college reading lists. All good, but I'm more into nonfiction at this point. I've been reading books on American History by Howard Zinn (thank you Good Will Hunting!). I seem to lean toward the American Revolution in my reading too. Otherwise, textbooks still dominate a good bit of my time for nursing school.
Myself...I know, it sounds cocky. There's lots of people I try to be like in certain ways, but I had a motto a few years back, "Be your own hero." In other words, I try the best I can to be the person I'd like to be. If I'm lacking in a certain area, I try to work on it. Maybe I'm naive, but I see myself as a work in progress, and I always will be.On a different note, anyone that has found that happy medium of self-fulfillment, success, family, career, happiness,...is worthy of hero-ship. And, anyone that's willing to sacrifice a part of themself to help someone else be a little happier/better off, has my approval too, especially if they're not looking for any sort of recognition.
