About Me

Concerts Suspended
Concerts at Rock House Concerts have been indefinitely suspended. Thanks to the musicians and music lovers who made our series so successful for the past three years. Best wishes to all.
History
In April, 2005, we completed construction of our backyard gazebo and began hosting house concerts there. We're out on a ranch a few miles south of Gonzales, Texas, which is about an hour from Austin or San Antonio, and two hours from Houston. We do this because we love to listen to live, original music, and the house concert format lets us share the experience with our friends and neighbors.
Music
Our concert series has no real theme; just live, original music that we think our audience will like. We have hosted Austin's W.C. Clark , Albert & Gage and Trish Murphy , as well as Houston's Kelly McGuire and Memphis songwriter Keith Sykes . Most songwriters have been accompanied by a rhythm section (bass and guitar) and sometimes a full band.
Food & Drink
Before each concert, we have some sort of social hour or meal. At Trish Murphy's show, we had a potluck dinner. At Abi Tapia's, we had a dessert social prior to the show. We always suggest BYOB, and usually serve coffee or tea.
Guests
We host around five concerts each year right now, so we get a really good attendance at each event. We ask each guest for a $10 donation, and the musicians get the entire door. Our shows average more than 100 guests. In addition, most artists sell about 25 CDs at our shows. Artists who have played here tell us we have a "high-quality audience", and they appreciate their attentiveness to and appreciation of the music.
Facility
They also tell us our venue is one of the best of its size in South Central Texas. Our gazebo is covered, but is an open-air facility. It has a 300 square foot stage with electricity and stage lighting. It also has a bar and an area capable of seating more than 100 guests. Our largest show was nearly 200, with folks overflowing into the yard.
Promotion
We aggressively promote our events. We begin by producing a postcard or flyer that gets mailed out to our ever-growing list. This is snail-mail, not email, so this effort elicits a good response. We also email a link to the flyer to members of the music community who have shown an interest in our series.
Join the Fun!
If you'd like to perform here, drop us a note. We usually book four to six months out. If you'd like to attend a concert, contact us and we'll get the details to you. We always enjoy meeting other house concert enthusiasts!
