Therefore, the conclusion is that love, in "that" sense, is not really "true", and I must defend myself against such a lie. To fall prey to it again would be an exercise in pure ignorance".
Oh, come on now... do you expect people to hurt you when you're strong, independent, grounded, and able to deal with anything that comes your way? People... you get burned when you open up and expose your vulnerable side. Relationships are not a game.. its a war. The enemy attacks your weakest flank and just keeps advancing until you consign defeat. Its why you get hurt when you're already broke... Its the fallen wall of the fortress...
