About Me

Producer/director/writer, Ytasha made her directorial debut with the critically acclaimed film The Engagement: My Phamily BBQ 2 which hits video stores summer 07. Her first book Beats, Rhymes and Life: What We Love and Hate About Hip Hop, a hip-hop anthology was coedited with author Kenji Jasper (Harlem Moon/Random House) and will be released May 07'. The book takes a look at key images in hip hop culture and includes essays by hip hop's hottest writers, including a foreward by Michael Eric Dyson. Look out for the book tour! She produced and wrote the award winning film Love Shorts: Vol.1 (Art & Ink Entertainment), now available on DVD(www.loveshorts.com, www.myspace.com/loveshorts, www.amazon.com) and co produced the Billboard chart topping documentary Tupac: Before I Wake. An accomplished journalist, Ytasha is a contributing writer to Upscale and a guest editor with NV (New Vision in Business). She's been published in Essence, VIBE, KING, XXL, The Chicago Tribune, The Chicago Defender and more.
