Generally acquiring knowledge, absorbing culture and saving the world in my own small way!Getting into gardening recently, inspired by the escapades of the Strawbridges. My tomatoes are doing amazingly well although the lettuces and sunflowers never made it. Also I'm finding that I don't actually know enough recipes that use dill or sage or parsley and they're kind of overtaking the whole garden. Oh well. They look nice.
The people who came up with this. Brilliant. OK Go - "Here It Goes Again"
Buy OK Go - Oh No at iTunes.
Seems to vary between very happy and very sad. The new Belle & Sebastian, Flaming Lips, Aberfeldy are making my ears prickle up at the moment. Also a few Iffy mixes since I was the last person I know to discover the joys of MP3. I'm currently being taught to see Depeche Mode in a whole new light and I think I like it. And Low. Great band. More long term favourites would include B&S, Nick Drake, Beth Orton, the Delgados, the Smiths, bit of U2 and I would have to say Coldplay for the tingle factor. I also appreciate the wisdom of Johnny Cash, Dylan and Roy Harper. Been discovering a bit of Baba Maal and Fema Kuti. I'm a sucker for global beats and hip hop treats(!) .. ..
Not exactly a movie buff. I always feel really left out when everyone talks about their top ten films when i can only remember about 3 amazingly good ones. It's a Wonderful Life is my all-time favourite Christmas movie (out of all the ones I can remember seeing). Think it's the only film I almost know word for word. Shrek also has a particluar place in my heart - hidden meanings you know...
Actually not watching much at the moment. This is strange for me. But it will soon be that time of year again for the annual X-factor / Come Dancing battle for the remote. Can't wait. Also I LOVED Life on Mars with John Sim - loved it. And now my friend Victor is going to be in the next series. Amazing!
Almost anything by Toni Morrison, Nick Hornby, Roddy Doyle. I love DH Lawrence, especially Women in Love, and Virginia Woolf, especially To The Lighthouse. I really like Irish poetry too - Eavan Boland, Seamus Heaney, Paul Durcan... There's a really beautiful Paul Durcan book where he has a painting on one side of the page and then a poem to interpret the painting on the other side. Can't remember what its called though, I'll look it up
In no particular order... The Strawbridge family. Jean Baptiste de la Salle. Oliver Heath. Janet Street Porter (v long story accompanies each of these). But mainly my amazing friends and family who teach me so much about life and the universe.. (ahh)
