What is a dream? Some may say a dream is nothing more than a vivid thought created while sleeping while others say a dream is somethingthat will never manifest. To achieve a dream one must possess adedicated work ethic, constantly strive and have a never give up attitudetowards your goal. Failure is the greatest way to achieve successbecause success is greater appreciated once you have experiencedfailure.If there is one person that possesses the passion and desire to turndreams into realities it is Courtney M. Gonsalves also know as Fly C. This gifted and fierce lyricist was born October 8th, 1988 on the tough, lower class streets of Boston, Massachusetts, in a neighborhoodknown as Roxbury. Growing up FLY C rapped as a way to cope withstressful everyday problems and adversity. Fly C’s clever word playhelped him to realize that rapping was not only a way to relieve stressbut also a way to display his creativity. After gaining the confidence toperform in front of crowds at the tender age of thirteen and noticing thereaction of peers and spectators, he recognized that this was a dream hehad to pursue. Fly C was influenced by artists such as Jay-Z, Can-I-Bus,Big Land and, The Notorious B.I.G. As the popularity of these artistsincreased their lyrics were being recited by students in school andindividuals in the street and Fly C knew that it would only be a matterof time before fans would be repeating his lyrics. Years of freestyling,ciphers, and battles helped develop this young mans unique style of rapand the use of his punch lines to excite the listeners.This dream came true with the release of his solo mixtape in 2007 entitled "2nd Son Of Jorell" in which FLY C demonstrates his lyrical abilitywith the use of distinguishing punch lines as well as discussing his lifeevents as though it was a movie. Fly C is looking to bring Boston to amainstream audience so that they can receive the recognition thatthey deserve. Fly C will continue his journey with the release of his highlyanticipated mixtape TBP, “The Business Proposal” scheduled to bereleased soon.
