We began rhymin in my cousins basement as a hobby back in the day(don't remember the year) when we had nothin better to do but listen to hip-hop.
Our group started out as a three man group but as things got serious we lost a member, which birthed KONTROVERSI!
The name was given to us by our manager, Kevin English, back when we had no name. At the time Kev was 1 of the only people that believed that we had n e thing worth investin in. We had a dream and Kev was there to help guide us on our way. As years passed we trotted slowly down our path of sucess because there were a few "disbelievers". We managed to keep our heads above water and move along. In Jan. of 2005 our group and label took a serious blow when I(KOMPLEKS) was arrested on bogus charges and sentenced to 18 mos. county. While incrarcerated the label took on its official name and began branding the city in any way possible with SOUTHPAW ENTERTAINMENT. The LOST SOULZ, a group of mc's that we grew with, began grindin' in the city through promotions, shows and battles throughout the city. Due to their righteous efforts SOUTHPAW ENTERTAINMENT has earned itself respect and the right to be noticed as an up and coming hip-hop label in baltimore. After a year in the county, they granted me time served and KOMPLEKS was released back to the streets (Jan. 27, 06). Now since i was gone my cousin(STATIK) had the time to chill and get his life together, but throughout the year that i was gone his presence was felt at the label. He held me down to the best of his abilities. It is now our time to conquer the local scene and then become a dominant national force in the world of hip-hop! FAST SHOUT! SOUTHPAW ENT., KEVIN ENGLISH, CHRIS B., I.P.S.(LOSTSOULZ &GAMIN), T.R.I.-STATE MAFIA(DI$EMAN,KID DEUCE,FAMOUS) AND D.E.44! also to ALL OF THOSE WHO SUPPORT US, AND ALL THE OTHER LABELS IN THE CITY HOLDIN IT DOWN(KARTEL, DIRTY HARTS, M.O.L., BANGLAND, & IF I DIDNT NAME U MYB....)
