Croque Monsieur are a Melbourne-based band that began eight years ago with the express purpose of playing festive Eastern European music on the streets of Melbourne. Since those primal beginnings, Croque Monsieur’s original and adapted compositions have slowly developed to include other genres such as tango, Dixieland swing, calypso, 1960s film scores, mariachi and various other excursions into festive musics of the world. The ultimate result of this long journey into foreign sounds is a unique musicality that would make a Bulgarian think their national folk song is Mexican and vice versa.
