About Me

Schism_ are an up-and-coming 3 piece Rock band from South East Essex, best described as Heavy Stoner/Rock, with a mix of upbeat high octane metal. The three friends formed Schism sometime around 2000. United by a love for good Rock music we wanted to form a band which relects this, & takes our influences & admiration of Rock & Metal in our own direction, without surcoming to any fads or trends, or hopping on the "Flavour of the month" bandwagons, like so many acts these days do. We've spent a great deal of time in studio's working on our sound & perfecting our song writing, keeping our sound as fresh & original as possible. We're creative enough to stand out from the crowd, and yet at the same time keep our songs straight forward enough to slot into any popular Rock band line-up . Thrash guitar riffs,a thumping drum beat,a deep driving bass sound & heartfelt lyrics make for a winning formula that has so far won over audiences of Schism's gigs.

Influences: We all grew up listening to a veriety of Rock music, & though each member of the band still has both feet firmly planted in the genre, we each draw influence from various corners of the music Scene. Everything from Muse, System of a Down, Rage Against The Machine, & Tool, . . . To Incubus, Primus & The White Stripes . . . To Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden & Alice In Chains. After spending years attending gigs & festivals we've built a strong appreciation for what a good, live band should sound like & what should be delivered on stage, so we do our best to re-produce this same excitment & energy when performing our songs.
Sounds Like: It's hard to pin-point our exact sound, we try to vary our style from song to song with the intention of keeping ourselves original at all times, but with familiar structures to the songs that allow an audience to recognise a Schism song instantly. If you crossed the melodic tones of Biffy Clyro or Foo Fighters, with the fast paced & complex beats of Muse or the slow heavy grind of Deftones . . . our sound would be somewhere very much in the middle. Listen closely & our influences can be be heard within our songs, but always in a subtle way that allows our songs to be heard formost for their originality, with our inspirations littered subtley in the undertones throughout.
