Thyrgrim was founded in the year 2004 as a one man project called Kältetot by Kain (Vocals). To realize all his creative Ideas he found support by Sturmgeist (Drums) and Azgal (Guitar) who joined Thyrgrim the same year. As the first result of their cooperation the Demo-CD “Kältetot” was released in 2005.

Based on this Thyrgrim could finish the Album “Winterhall” in 2006 wich contained not even new versions of the three demo songs but seven brand new songs as well.
After the release of “Winterhall” first live gigs followed.
When Azgal left Thyrgrim in 2006 Kain and Sturmgeist found AblaZ as a new guitar player.
In summer 2007 Thyrgrim finished working on the songs for their second album “Niedergang”.
The Sound of Thyrgrim is a mixture of aggressive riffs and independent melodies. Being more Pagan-Metal orientated in the beginning, this sound soon fell under the contempt of Kain caused by the sudden and excessive glut of bands renderinghomage to that Odin-Cult. So they decided to go back to the roots of german black metal.
